THE TEAM NEWS

BRAMPTON WOLVES

  • Brampton Wolves suffered defeat against Vancouver Knights in their qualfifying game to reach the final of the Global T20 Canada as they were well beaten in their rain-affected match.
  • With the game reduced to 16 overs apiece, the Wolves needed 181 under the D/L method but they crumbled in their pursuit with only Colin Munro posting double figures as he hit more than the rest of his team combined.
  • Munro scored a superb 62 off just 25 balls and he will be key again with Chris Gayle away with the West Indies whilst opener George Munsey desperately needs to find some form after scores of 1, 0 and 2 in three of his last four matches.

WINNIPEG HAWKS

  • Winnipeg Hawks won by the narrowest of margins under the D/L method as beat the Toronto Nationals by two runs to keep their hopes of making the final alive but now face a tough test against Brampton Wolves.
  • Needing 200 off a revised 17.1 overs, JP Duminy produced a sensational batting performance as he scored an unbeaten 85 off 41 balls to put his side into this second qualifying game with captain Rayad Emrit also chipping in with a valuable 33* off 15 balls at the end of the innings.
  • The Hawks are expected to be unchanged here and will need the likes of Duminy and Chris Lynn to produce with the bat to cover their weakness with the ball having only taken 23 wickets in the tournament so far, the fewest of any team.

THE PREDICTION

Brampton Wolves will face Winnipeg Hawks for the right to meet Vancouver Knights in the final of the Global T20 Canada. The Wolves lost out to the Knights in their qualifying semi-final and will be eager to earn the chance of revenge but the Hawks will have other ideas. Their batsmen once again dug them out of a hole but they might not be able to produce that again with the Wolves likely to come out on top due to possessing superior talent with both bat and ball.
