THE TEAM NEWS

YORKSHIRE VIKINGS

  • Yorkshire Vikings will be looking to improve on last year’s Vitality Blast campaign, where they failed to get out of the group stages.
  • England test captain Joe Root will be available for the ‘White Rose’ after not being selected for England’s T20 matches against Australia, whilst bowler Matt Fisher may feature having recovered from injury.
  • Vitality Blast captain David Willey, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid and Jonny Bairstow however, will all miss out due to England commitments with batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore stepping in as skipper.

NOTTS OUTLAWS

  • The Outlaws made it to finals-day in 2019 where they were beaten by one run by Worcestershire Rapids in a thrilling semi-final.
  • Australian captain Dan Christian being available despite difficulties caused by the Covid 19 pandemic represents a massive boost for Notts.
  • Notts will also be boosted with the availability of star batsman Alex Hales, however they have been dealt a big blow with the news that bowler Harry Gurney will miss this year’s Vitality Blast due to a shoulder injury that requires surgery.

THE PREDICTION

Rain looks set to put a dampener on the proceedings of this match (pardon the pun), although both sides will be hoping they can get a game in here. Yorkshire Vikings have home advantage and the rare luxury of Joe Root’s services. However, their top order batting has been hit badly by England call-ups which severely weakens their side. The Outlaws should take full advantage, with the big hitting Hales leading them to a win here should they get enough time on the field.
