THE PREDICTION
England travel to Wellington, looking to seal not only a 0-2 series win over New Zealand, but also a seventh straight Test victory for the first time since 2004. This comes off the back of Ben Stokes’ side hammering the Black Caps by 267 runs in the opening Test between the two nations in Mount Maunganui. It was predicted that New Zealand’s lack of depth in the bowling department due to injuries would end up costing them and indeed that proved the case, as England’s batters cashed in with their now trademark aggressive style of play. More impressively though, was the way the tourists’ bowlers managed to take 20 New Zealand wickets with the brilliant duo of Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad leading the charge once again, backed up superbly by Ollie Robinson.
Regardless of the conditions and state of the pitch in Wellington, it’s hard not to see England once again dominating proceedings against a clearly weakened home side. The batting depth is strong and Harry Brook remains in magnificent form within the England middle order. Key however, is that England’s bowlers are more than capable of taking 20 wickets once again, whilst New Zealand will likely struggle to do so without conceding a large number of runs. With that in mind, back England to make it seven Test wins on the bounce, securing a series sweep in the process.
