Iva Jovic extended her winning run to six matches after a straight sets win over Kamilla Rakhimova at the China Open. The 18-year-old, who defended her Guadalajara Open title last month, breezed through the first set to take a comfortable lead. However, Rakhimova improved her level and opened up a 5-2 lead in the second but failed to serve out the set. Jovic roared back and reeled off the final five games to complete a 6-1 7-5 victory.

She will now face six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. The 25-year-old mounted a remarkable comeback to defeat Donna Vekic in three sets. Vekic led after the first set and was on the verge of a comfortable victory after going 5-2 up in the second. However, the former world number one fought back and turned the match around to win 4-6 7-6 (0) 6-2.

Swiatek was out of sorts at the beginning of the match, and she can’t afford another slow start against Jovic, who is full of confidence after a fine recent run.
