B-Love Kandy’s four-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday at the hands of Colombo Strikers, who overcame Wanindu Hasaranga’s side by nine runs. Chasing 170, a poor start ended up costing B-Love Kandy dearly and whilst they rallied late in their innings, it wasn’t enough to save them. However, they remain in the box seat in regards to finishing inside the top two with victory here enough to guarantee it. Kandy could even end up winners of the group stage if they were to topple Dambulla Aura by a big enough margin that it swung the respective net-run-rates of the two teams significantly enough.
DAMBULLA AURA
Dambulla Aura are the only team in the Lanka Premier League so far to have racked up a double-figure haul of points across the group stage, winning five of a possible seven matches and a top two finish is already secure for them. However, Dambulla will want to go into the playoffs on the back of victory and with momentum firmly behind them, so don’t expect the Aura to take their foot off the gas here with two points also securing their status as group winners.
THE PREDICTION
Dambulla Aura’s consistency over the tournament has been hugely impressive, as both batters and bowlers are stepping up and contributing enormously when required. B-Love Kandy though, have shown their class as well although there does remain a nagging over-reliance on captain Hasaranga with both bat and ball. The strength-in-depth of Dambulla in all departments makes them worth backing to overcome Kandy, gaining revenge for their defeat against the same opposition earlier in the tournament.
