We touched upon the effectiveness of Harmeet Singh’s bowling in our preview of the first T20i and his excellent discipline saw him give up just 27 runs, before playing the role of finisher with the bat. His batting serves as a huge bonus and three sixes was testament to his big-hitting abilities.
The same can be said for Corey Anderson, who was also unbeaten at the close with 34 from 25 balls. Anderson’s prior international experience came to the fore in the latter stages of their run chase and to have such a weapon down the order is crucial.
BANGLADESH BETTING ANALYSIS
A lack of potency with the ball ultimately cost Bangladesh in their efforts to defend 153. Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets but more surprisingly, Shakib Al Hasan ended up wicket-less. It’s hard to see the experienced all-rounder being shut out for a second consecutive game, and it would be no surprise to see Shakib bounce back this time around.
The opening partnership of Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar put on 34 for the first wicket and will want to improve on that further, but it’s the rest of the top order who need to step up with the bat. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto being one of those players along with Shakib Al Hasan. Towhid Hridoy deserves credit though for his half-century.
UNITED STATES VS BANGLADESH EXPERT PREDICTION
Defeat on Tuesday may well jolt Bangladesh into life and having now played a full game in Houston, are more aware and comfortably within their surroundings. With many of their key players failing in their opening game, it would be a surprise if each of them misfired again on this occasion.
United States’ spin-bowling makes them hard to get away and that big-hitting down the order poses a huge threat. But Bangladesh will be ready for that and will hope to have the answers. The sensible move would be to back the Tigers to react strongly.
