Zimbabwe had led the T20i series, but ended up losing two matches to one after back-to-back defeats over the weekend. Losing captain Sikandar Raza to suspension no doubt played a huge part in their downfall, but the all-rounder will be available again for the ODI series after serving his two-match ban for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
IRELAND
Ireland will have been delighted to come back and shock Zimbabwe away from home in the T20i fixtures, showing resilience to come from behind to take the series. They had shown promise in the first match, losing by just one wicket and that promise blossomed into positive results after two successful run chases. They now look to build on this in the ODI series.
THE PREDICTION
It would be no surprise to see Zimbabwe step up a gear following the weekend’s disappointment. With Raza back in the team and the players perhaps jolted after consecutive defeats, they should improve significantly. Ireland may find it tougher to win away from home in the longer format, so back Zimbabwe to bounce back.
