The 31-year-old Japanese fighter has fought 26 times with 26 victories and 23 of those wins have come by knockout. Luis Nery, on the other hand, holds the WBC super bantamweight title for this eagerly awaited showdown in Tokyo with the Mexican having fought 36 times with 35 victories and just one defeat in his professional boxing career. Naoya Inoue, despite being less experienced, has the edge in terms of nous and technique so Luis Nery will likely try and turn the fight into a shootout but up against a fighter with 23 knockout wins in 26 fights, that will only give another advantage to Inoue.
