Ben Shelton vs Marton Fucsovics prediction
Ben Shelton continued his progress at Wimbledon as he defeated Rinky Hijikata in straight sets. There was controversy as bad light stopped play with Shelton 5-4 up in the third and only needing to serve the match out. They returned the next day and the American needed barely more than a minute to seal the win. He won 6-2 7-5 6-4 and has only been broken on one occasion in his two matches so far.
He will face Marton Fucsovics in the next round. The Hungarian’s match was also disrupted by bad light as his contest with Gael Monfils was halted at two sets all. In a one set shootout the following day, Fucsovics held his nerve to win 6-4 1-6 4-6 7-6 6-4. It was an incredible comeback from the lucky loser, as Monfils served for the match at 5-4 in the fourth.
Fucsovics failed to qualify for the tournament, but he’s still shown how effective he can be on grass, having reached the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open a few weeks ago and made the last eight at the All England Club in 2021. Shelton will be expected to win but he will do well to get through in straight sets once again.
