It’s been contrasting World Cup campaigns for these two nations. Whilst Australia have won two from two and sit top of their pool with progress to the next round assured, South Africa are already out of contention having lost to both Spain and Ireland, shipping seven goals in the process. This is very much a lopsided battle on paper.
Although South Africa have nothing to lose and can afford to throw everything they have at the Kookaburras without ramifications, Australia are more than capable of coping with whatever comes their way and despite perhaps not playing with as much intensity now that their passage to the next round is guaranteed, they should still wind up too good for South Africa.
