Australia vs Belgium prediction
Despite qualifying for the second round, Belgium have been far from at their best over the course of this tournament so far and now it’s time for them to step up a gear if we are to see the joint-hosts and number one ranked nation in the world progress through to the semi-finals. They did not convince against France despite winning and were narrowly beaten by Germany before overcoming Malaysia.
Australia topped a pool that included Spain after defeating both them and Ireland. Despite only drawing 2-2 with South Africa, that was still enough for the Kookaburras to finish top. But Belgium should prove their strongest opponents and Australia haven’t yet taken on an offense of their quality. If Belgium go up a level and show what the hockey world knows they are capable of, then they should edge this one and are worth backing to do so.
