HEAD-TO-HEAD
All-time meetings: Quetta Gladiators W4, Lahore Qalanders W1

QUETTA GLADIATORS

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • The Gladiators have won their last three matches and are playing some excellent cricket but they return to Sharjah where they lost their last two matches so they will hope they can carry their form in Dubai back to Sharjah.
  • They are boosted by the arrival of big-hitting England international opener Jason Roy and he is expected to come straight into the side and that strengthens an already formidable batting line-up.
  • He will likely replace Asad Shafiq at the top of the order unless they decide to move Shane Watson further down the order but given his impressive form, that seems less likely, so Roy will come in for Shafiq in what should be the only change.

LAHORE QALANDARS

Coach: Aqib Javed

Captain: Brendon McCullum

  • The Qalandars have already been eliminated from the tournament and cannot qualify for the play-offs but they have won their last two matches and have started playing closer to their best since the pressure on them is off.
  • Given their impressive form in wins over the Sultans and Kings, that will likely mean no changes to the starting team for this game and the team is beginning to settle down and play some good cricket.
  • This could very well come down to another shootout like the Karachi match on Sunday where they chased 163 and won in the Super Over but they face yet another fearsome batting line-up and they will need to improve in the bowling department again.

PREDICTION
The Qalandars have shown a significant improvement in the last two matches and they are playing with pride despite having nothing to play for. The Gladiators have already qualified for the play-offs due to results around them so the pressure is off them, but they will want to carry momentum into the final four. They are strengthened by the arrival of Jason Roy which makes their batting even stronger and they should have too much for the Qalandars in this one.
