PREDICTION
Southampton were impressive last weekend against Arsenal at the Emirates. That said they still came away from the trip to North London with nothing to show for it, an outcome that has worsened their current plight as they battle to stave off the threat of relegation.
This weekend they play host to a Chelsea side that has all but waved the white flag in their bid to reach the top four and the reward of Champions League football that comes with it. Last weekend they were held to a draw at home to West Ham, a result that subsequently did Southampton few favours.
Mark Hughes’ men have not won any of their last six Premier League outings and have struggled for goals throughout. The realistic truth is that they must find a win soon or they will be preparing for life in the Championship next season.
The question will be whether this Chelsea team have truly downed tools for the rest of the campaign. If they have, the Saints can take full advantage. If a win is to come then it must be now, and this could well be the surprise result of the weekend.
