PREDICTION
Newcastle’s last Premier League outing saw Rafael Benitez get the better of friend and now former Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino as the Magpies ran out 3-0 winners over the Saints. It was a vital win as it just gives them some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.
The hope will be that the international break has not halted any momentum that they built up, especially as they play host to another team that is battling to beat the drop in the shape of Huddersfield.
Last time out they lost a crucial home fixture with Crystal Palace, one that sees them looking over their shoulder once more. There is very little to split these two outfits, so don’t be too surprised if it ends up honours even.
MEMORABLE MEETING
August 2016 saw something of an early season surprise in the EFL Championship as David Wagner’s unfancied Huddersfield side picked up a win on Tyneside. The Terriers silenced a usually vociferous St James’ Park after Jack Payne’s goal eight minutes from time secured a 2-1 win for the Yorkshire based outfit.
This result was to be no flash in the pan though as although Huddersfield missed out on automatic promotion to Newcastle and Brighton they would eventually reach the promised land of the Premier League after beating Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final at Wembley.
