PREDICTION
Everton were made to look ordinary against Manchester City last weekend, although in fairness that is arguably more a measure of just how good Pep Guardiola’s side have been throughout the course of the season.
This weekend they have the ideal opportunity to right the wrongs they displayed against the runaway league leaders when they play host to local rivals Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s men were on their travels last weekend as the fixture computer took them to South London to face Crystal Palace.
After going 1-0 down it looked as if it was going to be a frustrating away day, but goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah overturned the deficit to give the Reds all three points. Although the form book has a habit of going out of the window in occasions such as these, this Liverpool side look to hot to handle as of late and will be good value for successive away league wins in as many weeks.
MEMORABLE MEETING
The first Merseysidederby of the 2013-14 season saw honours even at Goodison Park with the two sides playing out a fixture that saw no less than six goals. After Liverpool took an early 2-1 lead in the first 20 minutes it looked as if the game would be turned on its head as Romelu Lukaku scored twice to put Everton 3-2 ahead.
The second of the Belgian’s two strikes came just eight minutes from time, although that still left time for another twist in the tale; one that came in the way of Daniel Sturridge’s equaliser just a minute from time as Everton and Liverpool had to make do with sharing local bragging rights.
