Bournemouth are 10 points clear of the relegation zone going into this clash with Manchester United and although the threat of relegation has not been totally eradicated, Eddie Howe and his players will still be highly confident of being a Premier League outfit for a fourth successive season when the 2018-19 campaign kicks off in August.
They can all but confirm that status should they earn a win over Jose Mourinho’s men, who may well have one eye on the FA Cup semi-final this Saturday, when they square off with Tottenham at Wembley.
United make the trip to the South Coast having suffered the ignominy of defeat at the hands of the division’s basement side West Brom at the weekend, a defeat which subsequently saw Manchester City finally declared Premier League champions for this season.
After victory in the Manchester derby, it is almost as if their efforts were for nothing after such a meek showing at Old Trafford last Sunday, a defeat that makes the race for second place interesting once more.
The result could well depend on just how strong Jose Mourinho names his side especially with Wembley on the horizon, but with both Liverpool and Tottenham breathing down their necks he cannot afford to rest and rotate too much. It should be a win for United but don’t be surprised if Bournemouth get something out of this and start some celebrations of their own.
