THE TEAM NEWS
DELHI CAPITALS
Coach: Ricky Ponting
Captain: Shreyas Iyer
- Delhi Capitals come into this match having won five of their last six games and they know that victory here will seal a knockout phase spot so motivation is high and confidence is flying at the moment.
- The Capitals are unaffected by international call-ups at this stage unlike many other teams so they will be able to field an unchanged starting line-up for this match so it should be the same team that beat Rajasthan Royals last time out.
- West Indian Sherfane Rutherford will be keen to make an impact after his two innings so far have been at the back end of the innings with balls to face, and the team is looking strong in all departments right now.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
Coach: Gary Kirsten
Captain: Virat Kohli
- Royal Challengers Bangalore have won their last three matches and have given themselves a chance of reaching the top four as a win here will take them level on points with fourth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad and the cluster of teams on 10 points.
- Their hopes have been dealt a blow with Dale Steyn ruled out of the remainder of the tournament with a shoulder problem while Moeen Ali has also departed for international duty so that leaves them without two key internationals.
- That will mean Tim Southee leads the pace attack once again and either Shimron Hetmyer or Colin de Grandhomme will come back into the side at number six with Marcus Stoinis promoted up the order to four.
THE PREDICTION
These two teams are arguably the form teams in the IPL right now with the Capitals winning five of their last six and RCB having won their last four. The Capitals are flying and they are one of the few teams whose line-up is settled at the moment as they have not suffered any injuries nor international call-ups. Their bowling unit with Rabada at the forefront is proving dominant, and the top seven batsmen is as strong as any in the competition. They have margin for error which could see a fraction of complacency as they can relax a little unlike RCB, but on paper, the Delhi outfit have to be favoured with so many factors in their favour.
