THE STATISTICS

HEAD-TO-HEAD
All-time meetings: Chennai Super Kings W10, Kolkata Knight Riders W6
THE LOWDOWN
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
Coach: Stephen Fleming
Captain: Mahendra Singh Dhoni
- Chennai claimed a remarkable victory over arch rivals Mumbai largely thanks to a swashbuckling innings from Dwayne Bravo as the West Indian star scored a magnificent 68 from just 30 balls with three boundaries and seven maximums making up nearly 80% of his runs.
- Expect there to be at least one change to the CSK XI with Kedar Jhadav tearing a hamstring and will miss the remainder of IPL 2018 so South African superstar Faf du Plessis could come back into contention to replace Jhadav in the starting team.
- CSK will be slightly disappointed with their batting group from the Mumbai game with only three batsmen (including Bravo) scoring over 20 runs and the team lost wickets consistently so they will look to improve upon that here.
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
Coach: Jacques Kallis
Captain: Dinesh Karthik
- Another West Indian in Sunil Narine had a fantastic match against RCB as he smashed 50 of just 19 balls. He has had a great run against RCB of late scoring 138 runs at a strike rate of 260 and this proved a vital innings ensuring KKR chased down RCB’s total of 176.
- Nitish Rana was a surprise packet for KKR, the young local all-rounder scored a handy 34 from 25 deliveries and also chimed in with 2-11 from one over with the two wickets being Kohli and De Villiers as he swung the game in his side’s favour.
- It is therefore unlikely that KKR will make many changes for this match against CSK although with a short turnaround, Mitch Johnson could potentially be rested which could see the likes of Tom Curran make his first appearance.
THE PREDICTION
This match-up looks to be another close one. Both teams are coming off impressive wins, KKR the more convincing but with a more even spread from a batting perspective. Chennai struggled at times in the opener although one feels that the more they play together, the better they will be. This match will rely on the bowlers and the pure talent and reputation of the CSK squad may just see them scrape over the line again.
