FIFA 19 eSports – News Round-Up

In our weekly round-up here at The Stats Zone, we look at the biggest talking points currently within the FIFA eSports scene. These may range from player transfers, online/offline tournament announcements, tournament results and more.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The eDivisie came to a close this week in dramatic fashion as De Graafschap's Dani Visser won the PS4 title in dramatic circumstances. It took a golden goal to separate Visser and his grand final opponent Bryan Hessing, and in the end it was Ronaldo (R9) who scored the all important golden goal for Dani, sealing a 4-3 triumph over the Heracles player.

Last weekend saw the eighth and final licensed event qualifier of the FIFA 19 season as the PGL FIFA 19 Masters took place in Bucharest. There was no surprise over who came out on top as F2Tekkz capped off his domination of the regular season in style by winning his seventh trophy of the campaign so far. It was a satisfying tournament for Tekkz, who got revenge on Dr NightWatch, the man who knocked him out of the eChampions League in April. They clashed in the quarter-finals, with Tekkz coming out on top. He went on to face fellow countryman FUTWIZ Tom in the grand final less than two months after teaming with him at the eNations Cup. Tom put up a brave fight, but succumbed to his England teammate, with Tekkz winning 5-2.

TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

The resumption of Love Island isn’t the only exciting event taking place in June. The FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs will be kicking off with 128 players looking to book their place at the FIFA eWorld Cup later in the year. The regular weekend league season has finished and with all eChampions League finalists having already secured their spots in the top 60 of their respective Global Series leaderboards, the complete list of players who have qualified for the Global Series Playoffs have almost been finalised with famous names such as Kurt, Gorilla and FaZe Tass joining the big guns such as F2Tekkz, Msdossary and Nicolas99fc at the event. ELSEWHERE

FIFA 19 professional player The Royal has been suspended for the rest of the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series season after violating the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series Official Rules and Code of Conduct. The Saudi player was set to compete in next month’s Global Series Playoffs and stood a strong chance of qualifying for the FIFA eWorld Cup. However, those plans have now been shot to pieces.

In a disciplinary statement released by EA, The Royal was found to be breaching the Global Series code of conduct for actions related to the transaction of EA virtual currency. This was discovered during account vetting by EA for the second Licensed Qualifying Event this month. The Royal has therefore been punished with suspension for the rest of this year’s EA Sports Global Series, ruling him out of the Global Series Playoffs and ending his FIFA 19 season.

A further disciplinary update has since been released, revealing that four more players have been suspended from the rest of the EA Sports Global Series for a similar offence.
