FIFA 19 eSports – News Round-Up

In our weekly round-up here at The Stats Zone, we look at the biggest talking points currently within the FIFA eSports scene. These may range from player transfers, online/offline tournament announcements, tournament results and more.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Last weekend saw the first of two licensed event qualifiers in the month of May take place in Atlanta USA. It was a depleted field with many of the top FIFA 19 stars sitting out the event, but the likes of FUT Champions Cup winner DullenMike and eChampions League quarter finalist Marcuzo were in attendance and made it to the latter stages of the tournament. However, the winner was a relatively new face as PS4 player DAGNOLF96 defeated GoalMachine of Rogue eSports to win his first tournament of the FIFA 19 season. This has been a fantastic few weeks for the Italian, who has already competed at the eChampions League group stage event and will also compete in Bucharest at the second licensed event qualifier of the month.

The Orange e-Ligue 1 spring PS4 season also reached its climax at the weekend with FIFA eNations Cup winner Maestro taking the crown. The Team Vitality player was representing French side Dijon FCO and overcame Squealie in the final.

DOMESTIC FIXTURES & RESULTS

After nine rounds of league competition, the Australian E-League came to a close on Thursday as a champion was finally crowned. It was Melbourne Victory who dominated the league, winning it by three points to be crowned the Premiers, but they were defeated by Sydney FC 1-0 on aggregate in the grand final, as FUTWIZ Marco overcame Marcus Gomes.

This weekend will also see the finals of the Virtual LaLiga eSports Santander. The Spanish domestic event has seen nine separate tournaments take place, with 16 players emerging to compete in group stage competition. The group stages were contested in Barcelona at the end of April and saw eight players qualify to compete at the finals on 11th May in Madrid. The remaining domestic finals to be concluded this weekend will be that of the Virtual Bundesliga. The 24 best German players will come together in Berlin and compete to be crowned the Virtual Bundesliga champion and number one German FIFA eSports player. The action takes place on the weekend of 11th-12th May. You can see the four groups and the players competing in each group along with what console they will be playing on below.
