Where can I stream the tournament? The competition can be streamed on EA Sports’ official Twitch and YouTube channels. The timings are as follows.

Friday April 26th – 12:30 to 21:30 BST

Saturday April 27th – 13:00 to 21:00 BST

Can I follow the tournament on Twitter? Updates will be provided on the EA Sports official Twitter page and also the competitive EA Sports Twitter page which focuses specifically on FIFA eSports. Also be sure to search the hashtags #FIFAeWorldCup, #eChampionsLeague and #eCL as well as looking up ‘eChampions League’ in the Twitter search bar. Don’t forget to follow your favourite players competing in the tournament, along with their respective clubs/organisations who are likely to provide real time updates on their progress.

THE LOWDOWN

Tournament Format

The eChampions League group stage will be contested by 64 players on the PlayStation 4. These 64 players will all compete in a seven rounds of a Swiss-style single group stage format that leads into a knockout bracket. Of the 64 players, half of them will progress from the group stages into the round of 32, from which they will contest a single elimination knockout match that will leave 16 players remaining. These 16 players will contest the round of 16 with the eight winners advancing to the eChampions League final event in Madrid on May 31st.

Are there rules regarding what teams/players can be used for the tournament?

Each game will be played in the FIFA Ultimate Team mode, with each player free to use their own UT in the competition.

Who will be competing in the tournament?

A total of 64 players around the globe have qualified for the eChampions League group stage through online competition. You can find a complete list of players who will be appearing in Manchester here.

What prizes are up for grabs?

A cash pool of $280,000 will be on offer throughout the entirety of the eChampions League, with the winner earning a total of $100,000. The eight players who qualify for the eChampions League final this weekend will all be guaranteed a minimum of $15,000.

Also up for grabs for the competing players are FIFA Global Series Points, with more points up for the grabs the higher you place at the tournament. These points will see them rise up the FIFA Global Series rankings leaderboard for their respective console. At the end of the season, the top 16 ranked players from each console according to the Global Series rankings leaderboard will qualify for the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup. The total amount of Global Series Points awarded for each finishing position at the eChampions League is below:

Winner – 850 GSP
Runner-up – 450 GSP
3rd -4th – 315 GSP
5th-8th – 150 GSP
9th-16th – 110 GSP
17th-32nd – 80 GSP

THE PLAYERS

The inaugural eChampions League reaches its second phase in Manchester this weekend, as 64 players compete in both group stage and knockout competition. Of the 64 players, only eight will go on to Madrid and compete in the eChampions League final on May 31st, the day before the UEFA Champions League final itself.

All the big guns in terms of FIFA 19 competitors will be in attendance as major tournament winners go head-to-head. The first of those players is the last man to lift a FIFA trophy at Victoria Warehouse. It was April 2018 when Msdossary tasted victory for the first time in Manchester, lifting the second FUT Champions Cup of the FIFA 18 season. One year on, the Saudi superstar returns to one of his favourite haunts as he seeks to book his place in Madrid representing Rogue.

It’s set to be a different experience for the number one ranked FIFA 19 player in the world. F2Tekkz will be competing on the PS4 as opposed to his favoured Xbox One console. How this will affect him is yet to be seen but regardless, the young Brit will be fully expected to seal his spot in Madrid on home territory this weekend, despite the difficulties involved with playing on a different console.

The third player worth a serious mention is the recently-crowned FIFA eNations Cup winner. Maestro sealed his first major trophy of the season earlier in the month, representing his home nation of France. This weekend he’s back to competing for himself and his organisation Team Vitality. He is the form player going into the event and competing on his home console, it would be a huge shock if he were not one of the eight to make it to the eChampions League final event.
