THE LOWDOWN
Tournament Format and Schedule
The format of ESWC FIFA 18 Paris consists of two separate tournaments taking place on two different consoles. 32 players who successfully qualified online for one of the two competitions will arrive in Paris, with 16 competing in each tournament.
Each tournament will begin with a group stage competition. Players shall be divided into four groups of four, with games taking place in a round-robin format. The top two players of each group qualify for the quarter-finals, with the four group winners facing the runners up of a different group.
Saturday, April 7th – The PlayStation 4 tournament takes place from 10am-7pm
Sunday April 8th – The Xbox One tournament takes place from 10am-7pm
Are there rules regarding what teams/players can be used for the tournament?
Each game will be played in the FIFA Ultimate Team mode, with each player free to use their own UT in the competition.

What prizes are up for grabs?
The winning player from each console will both qualify for the EA Sports FIFA Global Series Playoffs, where they will compete in an attempt to qualify for the FIFA eWorld Cup Finals this coming August. Both winners will also take home a cash prize of $2,500. Runners up will net $1,500 each along with a qualification spot for the ESWC FIFA 18 Sao Paulo finals later in the month. The winner of the third place playoff also wins a qualification spot, along with $1000 prize money.
Who are the players to watch?
Many big name players will be on show in Paris this weekend, but none more so than the 2014 FIFA eWorld Cup champion, August “Agge” Rosenmeier. The Danish star currently plies his trade for Hashtag United. The football club’s eSports team boasts a big online following and will be well represented at the event, with Rosenmeier the headline act as he seeks to book his spot in the Global Series Playoffs. He will compete in the PlayStation 4 tournament, with teammate Harry Hesketh fighting it out in the Xbox One competition.
Looking to spoil Hashtag United’s party will be French footballing giants Olympique Lyonnais and their FIFA player Fouad “Rafsou” Fares. The FIFA Interactive Club World Cup Xbox champion and Orange eLigue 1 Winter Tournament winner will be looking to add yet another Xbox One title to his collection this coming Sunday.
If you’re looking for a wildcard, then keep an eye out for the Dutch youngster who plays for two professional football clubs! Lev Vinken is a FIFA player for AFC Ajax who is currently on loan at fellow Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam. Vinken has had a strong start to his FIFA 18 campaign and after a third-place finish at the ESWC FIFA 18 Challenge, Vinken will be desperate to go even further on the PlayStation 4 this Saturday.
