NOVAK DJOKOVIC

  • Novak Djokovic took care of business as usual in the second round at Wimbledon where he beat the USA’s Denis Kudla in three straightforward sets.
  • The world number one will face Hubert Hurkacz at a Grand Slam for the second time this year after beating the Pole in the first round at Roland-Garros last month.
  • The 32-year-old Serb has not lost to a player ranked as low as Hubert Hurkacz at Wimbledon since 2008 to Marat Safin

HUBERT HURKACZ

  • Hubert Hurkacz lost the first set in his second-round match with Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer but came back well to win in four and will now face Novak Djokovic for the second consecutive Grand Slam.
  • 22-year-old Hubert Hurkacz is breaking his own records at Wimbledon having reached the third round at a Grand Slam for the first time.
  • The young Pole had a decent enough grass-court preparation, getting through to the quarter-finals at Eastbourne before losing to eventual champion Taylor Fritz.

THE PREDICTION

Hubert Hurkacz can be immensely pleased with his performances so far at Wimbledon as this is his most successful Grand Slam to date. However, Novak Djokovic is in imperious form without really needing to step up to full throttle and has dispatched his first two opponents with relative comfort. Hurkacz lost to the Serb at Roland-Garros last month, and his journey should come to an end here against the world number one again, who will not be planning on dropping a set for a few rounds yet.
