- David Goffin never faced a break point in a routine win over American Bradley Klahn and will now face Jeremy Chardy in a Grand Slam for the second time in his career.
- The 28-year-old Belgian had an excellent build-up to Wimbledon with a runners-up trophy at Halle complimented by reaching the quarter-finals at the Libema Open before.

THE PREDICTION
This should be an interesting spectacle between two classy tennis players, both of whom will have expected to reach the third round of Wimbledon on current form. Jeremy Chardy’s 1-0 record over David Goffin takes some agency, but their previous meeting was just over four years ago. The tables have turned in terms of rankings and ability, and the diminutive Belgian could be something of a dark horse for the latter stages this year.
