THE TEAM NEWS
SPAIN
- Spain’s qualification hopes were kept alive thanks to a late winning goal by substitute Pablo Fornals which gave them a 2-1 victory against Belgium when they looked set for frustration and an exit from the tournament.
- They took an early lead against Belgium only for their opponents to get back on level terms. In the second half the influential performance of man of the match Dani Ceballos was pivotal for Spain as they applied the pressure which eventually paid off.
- All Spain can do in their quest to qualify for the semi-finals is hope to win this match and then keep their fingers crossed that results elsewhere go their way.
POLAND
- Poland top Group A having won their matches against Belgium and Italy and they go into this match needing only a draw to be certain of their place in the semi-finals. However, even a defeat may leave them with a chance of progressing but that is an uncertain scenario depending on results elsewhere.
- Their 1-0 victory against Italy on Tuesday night was mainly due to some heroic defending from the outfield players and goalkeeper Kamil Grabara who was named as man of the match for his performance as Poland came under lots of pressure before and after Bielik's goal in the first half.
- Poland are unlikely to change too much around in their starting line-up and may stick with the three-man defence they used against Italy.
THE PREDICTION
Poland have given themselves a good chance of making it through to the semi-finals and need a draw to ensure progression. They had a lot of defending to do to keep their opponents at bay as they managed to shut out Italy in their last match and they are likely to face a similar situation against a Spanish team who will look to apply the pressure. Although the Poles managed to hang on against Italy, the class of Dani Ceballos might just be the difference as Spain snatch a narrow win.
