THE TEAM NEWS
FRANCE
- France have edged to victory in both of their matches so far against England and Croatia, and they come into this match knowing that a draw with Romania will see them through to the semi-finals along with their opponents.
- The fact that both teams go through with a draw will likely see them play a cautious style here as they are highly unlikely to take too many risks against a Romanian side that has scored four goals in each of their matches so far.
- They made a couple of changes in the second game compared to the first and they may do so once again to keep the side fresh although the defensive side of the team is settled so any alterations are likely to come further forward.
ROMANIA
- Romania continue to be one of the revelations of the tournament so far having scored four goals each against Croatia and highly-fancied England, and they know a point here will suffice for them to win the group and progress.
- George Pușcaș and Ianis Hagi have been superb in the opening two games and have been receiving plenty of plaudits, so the talented duo will be motivated to show they can produce against this strong French defensive line.
- Rotations are highly unlikely for this match given the importance of the game and while they will likely be content with a point, they know they will go through as best runners-up if they lose by a one or two-goal margin.
THE PREDICTION
With both teams knowing a point will ensure they both qualify for the semi-finals, it will be interesting to see how they approach this game. Romania’s matches have been full of goals so far and they have scored eight of the 11 goals in their two games but this will surely not follow suit. The route to the final is difficult on either side so it is unlikely either team will take unnecessary risks to finish top of the group, and the draw has to be favoured here.
