THE TEAM NEWS

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Clubb, Escaré, Farrell, Gildart, Greenwood, Hankinson, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Marshall, Navarrete, O’Loughlin, Partington, Powell, Sammut, Smithies, Williams

Unavailable: Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Tom Davies, Ben Flower, Dan Sarginson

  • Wigan put themselves right into play-off contention as they secured their third consecutive victory as they overcame Huddersfield and now return to the DW Stadium after six games on the road.

  • The Warriors were hoping to have Dan Sarginson back in contention after the in-form back missed last week's win with a couple of knocks but he is once again unavailable with this game coming too soon.

  • That means Wigan have named the same 19-man squad as last week with head coach Adrian Lam unlikely to make any changes to his matchday 17 unless someone has picked up a knock during the week.

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Hastings, Inu, Johnson, Jones, Lannon, Lolohea, Lussick, Olpherts, McCarthy, Nakubuwai, Sa’u, Sio, Tomkins, Welham

Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, Lee Mossop, George Griffin, Adam Walker

  • Salford made it back-to-back wins defeated play-off rivals Castleford as they leapfrogged the Tigers into the top 5 thanks to their victory and now face another one of the teams in close proximity as they travel to Wigan.

  • The Red Devils will have to overcome some off-field drama with both Robert Lui and Jackson Hastings linked with moves away from the club but for now, Lui is the only one who has departed after he moved to Leeds with Tui Lolohea joining the Red Devils in return.

  • Lolohea comes straight into the 19-man squad along with Ben Nakubuwai and Ken Sio who have overcome knocks whilst Lee Mossop makes way with an injury of his own and Adam Walker is suspended so also drops out.

THE PREDICTION

Wigan have hit form at the right time as they moved to within touching distance of a play-off spot thanks to their third straight win. They now host a Salford side that currently occupy the last place in the current top 5 and should be able to overcome the Red Devils to leapfrog them. The Warriors have improved a lot recently and now have some home games to look forward to after spending the last six weeks on the road. That could be telling for Wigan as they look to finish in a play-off spot and they can mark their return with a win.
