THE TEAM NEWS
SALFORD RED DEVILS
Head Coach: Ian Watson
Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Griffin, Hastings, Jones, Lussick, Lui, McCarthy, Mossop, Nakubuwai, Olpherts, Sa’u, Sio, Tomkins, Turgut, Welham
Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, Josh Wood
- Salford made it back-to-back wins to begin the season as they defended impressively to keep London scoreless at the AJ Bell last week with a strong second half seeing them seal a comfortable victory.
- The Red Devils have the chance to remain the early pace-setters and Ian Watson could name an unchanged team for the third straight game having named the same 19-man squad once again.
- Not only have Salford conceded fewer tries (2) than any other team at this early point in the season but they have also scored two more than any other side with 11, highlighting their impressive start.
LEEDS RHINOS
Head Coach: David Furner
Squad: T. Briscoe, Cuthbertson, Donaldson, Dwyer, Ferres, Handley, Hurrell, Lolohea, Merrin, Myler, Newman, Oledzki, Parcell, Peteru, Singleton, L. Sutcliffe, Walker, Ward, Watkins
Unavailable: Carl Ablett, Jamie Jones-Buchanan
- Leeds endured another tough night as they were comfortably beaten by Wigan to remain without a win at the start of this season and face a tricky trip to Salford who have won both of their games so far.
- Several Leeds players have been linked with moves away from the club this week including prop Adam Cuthbertson and hooker Matt Parcell whilst Anthony Mullally has joined Toronto.
- Despite the rumours circulating around Cuthbertson and Parcell, both have been named in Dave Furner’s squad for this game and he will choose from the same 19 as last week while Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Carl Ablett remain out with injury.
THE PREDICTION
Salford have been the surprise package to begin the season, not just for winning both games but the manner in which they have done so. They have only conceded two tries so far and with the Rhinos looking average in attack and poor in defence, Leeds could be in for another difficult afternoon. Salford have started the season well and although this could be their toughest test yet, they can earn another win here to set alarm bells ringing for Leeds.
