THE TEAM NEWS
SALFORD RED DEVILS
Head Coach: Ian Watson
Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Hastings, Inu, Johnson, Jones, Lannon, Lolohea, Lussick, Olpherts, McCarthy, Nakubuwai, Sa’u, Sio, Tomkins, Welham
Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, Lee Mossop, George Griffin, Adam Walker
- Salford were leapfrogged by Wigan in the table as the Red Devils' time in the play-off spots was short-lived after defeat to the Warriors but they face an out-of-form Huddersfield side here that presents a good opportunity to get back to winning ways.
- Jackson Hastings' future has been a hot topic but he seems set to join Wigan next year which might allow him to focus on his game after speculation intensified over recent weeks which also coincided with the departure of his former halfback partner Rob Lui.
- Salford head coach Ian Watson has named an unchanged 19-man squad this week but may look to change his matchday 17 with Junior Sa’u hoping for a spot in the side whilst Ken Sio may start after he was named as an interchange last week.
HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS
Head Coach: Simon Woolford
Squad: Clough, Cudjoe, English, Frawley, Gaskell, Holmes, Ikahihifo, Lawrence, Leeming, McGilvary, McIntosh, Mellor, Murphy, O’Brien, Roberts, I. Senior, Ta’ai, Turner, Wilson
Unavailable: Adam Walne, Akuila Uate, Joe Wardle, Jake Wardle, Suaia Matagi, Dale Ferguson
- Huddersfield ended Round 20 level on points with the teams at the bottom as their poor form continued with a defeat at Wakefield as their losing streak was extended to four matches.
- The Giants were handed a boost last weekend by the return of captain Leroy Cudjoe and they will hope he will come on as he gets more game time whilst he could be partnered on the flank by Jermaine McGilvary after he was a late withdrawal before the Wakefield game.
- Huddersfield have made two changes to their 19-man squad with Suaia Matagi and Dale Ferguson dropping out with Tom Holmes and Oliver Wilson brought in and both will make their debuts if selected.
THE PREDICTION
Huddersfield plunged even deeper into relegation trouble after a fourth consecutive loss saw them end the weekend level on points with the sides at the bottom. They now head to Salford who will want to get back to winning ways after losing to play-off rivals Wigan. Salford can be hit and miss with their performances and whilst they were not at their best last week, they came up against a solid Wigan side that are in good form. Huddersfield have thrown in some poor performances recently with the Red Devils able to capitalise and keep the pressure on the sides above them.
