THE TEAM NEWS

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

Coach: Peter Moores

Captain: Steven Mullaney

  • Nottinghamshire were unable to maintain their unbeaten record in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup as their five-match winning streak was brought to an end by a Wayne Parnell-inspired Worcestershire.

  • Notts decided to bat first as usual but that decision backfired as they were bowled out for just 121 with Chris Nash’s 51 the only score of note and with such a paltry total to defend, the bowling unit had their work cut out as Worcestershire were able to claim the win within 26 overs.

  • Alex Hales is the big inclusion in the Nottinghamshire squad after he was dropped from England’s World Cup squad following a failed drugs test and after serving a 21-day ban, he could make his comeback here.

DURHAM

Coach: James Franklin

Captain: Cameron Bancroft

  • Durham’s hopes of progressing to the next round suffered a big blow as they lost a thrilling contest with Lancashire, a result which drew the two sides level on eight points as the race for the top three intensifies.

  • Alex Lees scored a maiden century for Durham but it proved to be in vain as Lancashire were able to chase down the 230 they had been set to win with just four balls remaining to seal the important win.

  • Despite the loss to Lancashire in what was just their second from their six matches so far, Durham are unlikely to make any major changes to their side but they have been boosted by the fact England have allowed fast bowler Mark Wood to play so he will surely come into the side.

THE PREDICTION

Nottinghamshire host Durham in a big contest that could have big implications for both counties. Notts lost their first game of the competition against Worcestershire last time out and whilst they are still favourites to progress, another loss will make them slightly nervy. Durham too cannot afford another loss with a clutch of teams chasing them down to try and make the top three. However, travelling to Nottinghamshire who will be looking to secure qualification for themselves with a win is not an easy task with the visitors set to lose their second game in succession.
