- Middlesex have won three of their opening four matches as they sit in third place of the South Group and firmly in contention for a knockout place as they aim to kick on in the second half of the group phase now.
- Overseas stars Ross Taylor came in last time out and played a key role for the team in their win over Surrey to help overcome the absence of Eoin Morgan who has departed for England duty now so they are just as strong with Taylor in the batting line-up.
- Steven Finn rotates back out of the side after playing the last couple of matches to preserve the veteran’s fitness but the bowling attack is playing well with Sowter complementing pace bowlers Helm and Roland-Jones nicely.
SUSSEX

- Sussex will have to bounce back from their first loss of the campaign against Somerset but after opening with two wins against Surrey and Kent, a win here will put them level on points with their opponents Middlesex.
- Chris Jordan is unavailable as he joins up with the England squad and he is replaced by loan signing Ed Barnes but Jordan’s absence will increase the reliance on Beer, Hamza and Wiese coming into this match.
- The batting unit will have to be their best here with the likes of Phil Salt, Laurie Evans and Luke Wright key if they are to match the strong Middlesex batting line-up and one or two of them will have to score heavily.
THE PREDICTION
There is a chance that rain will affect play at Lords so winning the toss and fielding first will surely be the way forward for whoever wins it. The batting line-ups both posses some top quality batsmen and there is little to pick between them in truth. The absence of Jordan however weakens the Sussex bowling attack though and that may be where the home side have a marginal edge. That said, there really is little to choose between the teams on paper and based on matches in the tournament so far.
