MARIN CILIC
- Marin Cilic overcame the challenge of Cristian Garin on Monday as a 6-1, 7-6 victory saw him reach the second round and the Croat will be hoping the grass can bring about his best form as he endured a fairly miserable clay-court stint.
- Cilic is the reigning champion at Queen's having defeated Novak Djokovic in the final last year and his overall record at this tournament is excellent with two titles and a further two final appearances.
- This will be the first meeting on grass between the two players although Cilic has won two of their three encounters with the most recent being in Canada last year so he should know what to expect from the Argentine.
DIEGO SCHWARTZMAN
- Diego Schwartzman was a relatively comfortable victor in the first round as he dispatched Russian opponent Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-2 in what was the Argentine's first ever appearance at Queen's Club.
- Grass is by far Schwartzman's weakest surface as the shortcomings in his game - such as his serve - are exposed by those whose play-styles are more naturally suited to it.
- The diminutive Argentine has only two career wins to his name on grass when it comes to the ATP tour so his expectations will be somewhat low in this contest against an experienced player on the surface.
THE PREDICTION
There looks to only be one winner here as, despite a poor 2019 so far, Cilic's game is much better suited to this surface. The defending champion's big serve and pulsating forehand should prove too much for Schwartzman, who clearly struggles on grass. The Argentine's first-round victory over Alexander Bublik may give him some belief, but Cilic has to be viewed as the favourite.
