THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

Head Coach: Michael Maguire

Starting 13: Thompson, Jennings, Mbye, Marsters, Nofoaluma, Marshall, Brooks, Aloiai, Farah, Twal, Matterson, Lawrence, Eisenhuth – Interchanges: Liddle, Mikaele, Taylor, Chee-Kam – Reserves: Momirovski, McQueen, Reynolds, Clark

Unavailable: Mahe Fonua, Ben Matulino

  • Wests Tigers ended their three-match losing run as they secured a dramatic golden point victory over North Queensland Cowboys and will hope that can be the catalyst for a positive run of form.

  • Josh Reynolds could be available to make his return for the Tigers this week after featuring in the Canterbury Cup last weekend but he is unlikely to feature in the 17 after he was only named as a reserve with little indication that he will be a late addition to the side.

  • Chris Lawrence has been rewarded for his form since returning from a horrific facial injury with a spot in the back row with Michael Chee-Kam dropping to the bench whilst Elijah Taylor has earned a recall with Ben Matulino unavailable.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Johnston, Gagai, Roberts, Burns, Graham, Walker, Reynolds, G. Burgess, Cook, Knight, Sutton, Lowe, Murray – Interchanges: Tatola, Nicholls, Britt, Turner – Reserves: Allan, Tracey, Doueihi, S. Burgess, Amone

Unavailable: Kurt Dillon, Tom Burgess

  • South Sydney lost their third game in a row as their struggles continued with another below-par performance against Penrith and will be desperate to turn their form around as they face Wests Tigers.

  • Adam Reynolds could give the Rabbitohs a huge boost by returning to the side following a back injury as they aim to return to winning ways and he has been named to start but will need to prove his fitness before kick-off.

  • Sam Burgess is also a surprise name amongst the reserves and he could make a sooner than expected return from shoulder surgery but Alex Johnston may drop out of the side before kick-off due to a knock.

THE PREDICTION

Wests Tigers ended their losing streak whilst South Sydney's streak was extended to three games as they fell even further behind Melbourne at the top of the NRL ladder. Adam Reynolds returning to the halves could be vital for Souths and they can end their losing streak if he features. The Rabbitohs will want to avoid losing a fourth consecutive game but not at the expense of rushing back a couple of their star players and the move could backfire if they are not 100% to feature but providing they name the right line-up, Souths can get back to winning ways.
