THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

Head Coach: Ivan Cleary

Starting 13: Edwards, Mansour, Whare, Naden, To’o, Maloney, Cleary, Tamou, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Kikau, Winterstein, Yeo – Interchanges: Egan, Luai, Leota, Campbell-Gillard – Reserves: Sele, Cartwright, Ellis, Crichton

Unavailable: Tyrone May

  • Penrith's brilliant run of form continued as they made it six wins in a row to climb into the top 8 after a comfortable win over Gold Coast and will feel confident of extending that run as they host St. George.

  • The Panthers are flying at the moment and they could be boosted further by the return of halfback Nathan Cleary from an ankle injury who looks set to line up alongside James Maloney in the halves.

  • Cleary’s inclusion sees Jarome Juai move to the bench and Jed Cartwright drops to the reserves after making his NRL debut last week but those two may revert to where they lined up last week if Cleary fails to prove his fitness.

ST. GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

Head Coach: Paul McGregor

Starting 13: Dufty, Pearson, Aitken, Lafai, Ravalawa, Norman, Nicholls, Lawrie, McInnes, Vaughan, Frizell, T. Sims, Graham – Interchanges: Kerr, K. Sims, Kaufusi, Leilua – Reserves: Robson, Host, Sailor, Saab

Unavailable: Jack de Belin, Gareth Widdop, Zac Lomax, Lachlan Maranta, Jeremy Latimore, Ben Hunt

  • St. George's play-off hopes took another hit as their slump continued as they lost their eighth game from their last ten matches and now head to Penrith to face the in-form Panthers.

  • The Dragons lost Jeremy Latimore to a knee injury during their defeat to the Raiders last week and he will be sidelined here but in a big boost for St. George, they can call upon James Graham who will start at lock.

  • Ben Hunt will also not feature for the Dragons after it was decided to rest him this week following a big workload so far this season with Darren Nicholls getting another shot at halfback whilst Patrick Kaufusi and Josh Kerr are named on the bench.

THE PREDICTION

Penrith and St. George have gone in very different directions over the last two months and their meeting here could highlight the gap between where they are currently at. The Panthers are searching for a seventh straight win and against an out-of-form Dragons, they should be able to do just that. The return of James Graham will give St. George a big boost but his presence alone is unlikely to be enough for the Dragons to get back to winning ways, especially with Penrith being able to field Nathan Cleary in the halves.
