THE TEAM NEWS

PARRAMATTA EELS

Head Coach: Brad Arthur

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, M. Jennings, Takairangi, Ferguson, Salmon, Moses, Alvaro, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Niukore, Moeroa – Interchanges: Terepo, Mannah, Kaufusi, Stone – Reserves: Evans, Hoffman

Unavailable: Manu Ma’u, Kaysa Pritchard, Nathan Brown, Will Smith, Dylan Brown

  • Parramatta were nilled as they travelled to Canberra with the Raiders sucking the life out of the Eels in a dominant display with the Eels desperate to bounce back immediately as they open Bankwest Stadium.

  • The Eels looked set to be without Blake Ferguson after he suffered a broken nose and suspected fractured ribs last week whilst Mitchell Moses copped a knock but both have been named in the side.

  • Brad Arthur has made a couple of changes to his side with Kane Evans and David Gower making way for young pair Oregon Kaufusi and Ray Stone who will start the game from the bench.

WESTS TIGERS

Head Coach: Michael Maguire

Starting 13: Mbye, Fonua, Jennings, Marsters, Thompson, Reynolds, Brooks, Packer, Farah, Twal, Matterson, Garner, Aloiai – Interchanges: Matulino, Mikaele, Eisenhuth, Chee-Kam – Reserves: Momirovski, McQueen

Unavailable: Chris Lawrence, Benji Marshall

  • Wests Tigers claimed a dramatic victory as Michael Chee-Kam scored on their last set of six to overcome Brisbane last week and now face Parramatta in their third consecutive game on the road.

  • Wests avoided any injuries last week but had a couple of big names take to reserve grade and but despite pushing for a recall, Elijah Taylor and David Nofoaluma will have to take a watching brief once again.

  • With an average off 53% possession, Wests are enjoying the third highest share of the ball so far this season but must look to turn that into more tries with just 3.2 per game so far which ranks them ninth in the NRL.

THE PREDICTION

Parramatta will have to show a huge improvement as they begin life in their new stadium after they were left scoreless against Canberra. They will host Wests Tigers who came out on top of a thrilling contest with Brisbane and although they can win again, they will have to put in a big effort here. The Eels will be keen to put on a show and bounce back from last week’s disappointing performance but it will take a big turnaround for them to claim the win here with Wests Tigers able to take the spoils and ruin the Parramatta party.
