THE TEAM NEWS
DENMARK
- Denmark came out second best in their contest with Finland and now face the USA in a crunch clash with a defeat for the Danes leaving them with an uphill task of making the quarter-finals.
- After a scoreless first period, Denmark took the lead against the Finns but didn’t hold on very long and found themselves behind heading into the third period with Finland able to add a final goal to seal a 3-1 win.
- With the tournament on the line for Denmark, they will need a big team performance and will look towards Morten Poulsen to try and lead the way with him currently topping the goalscoring chart for his country with three goals.
USA
- USA made it three straight wins to move up the standings but will need to pick up a couple more wins to secure a quarter-final berth and will need to improve their performances in the process.
- The United States still looked disjointed in their 6-3 win over Great Britain in which they wasted numerous chances to score but have plenty of room for improvement within their roster.
- Patrick Kane’s goal and two assists saw him become the USA’s leading points scorer of all-time and will again be key for his side along with Jack Eichel who has five assists in the competition so far.
THE PREDICTION
Denmark face USA in a crucial match that could determine their fate in the competition. The United States currently occupy the fourth and final qualifying spot and sit three points ahead of the Danes with a loss here likely to end Denmark’s hopes of making the quarter-finals. USA have yet to hit their straps and after another clunky display, they can ill-afford another under-par performance but they should improve here and claim the win.
