CANADA
- Canada made it three wins in a row as they defeated France to move ominously up the Group A standings and are now within striking distance of a quarter-final berth with Germany their next opponents.

- Germany made it four wins in a row to start the 2019 IIHF World Championships as they produced a stunning late show to defeat hosts Slovakia and maintain their 100% start to the competition.
- The Germans were a goal down with under two minutes on the clock but goals from Markus Eisenschmid and Leon Draisaitl secured an unlikely victory to almost secure Germany’s place in the quarter-finals.

Unbeaten Germany face a huge test of their credentials here as they face Canada in an intriguing match-up. Canada have won three in a row since they were defeated by Finland in their opening game but need a win here to ensure they stay in touch with the top two in Group A. One of those sides above them is Germany who have won all four of their matches but this is a much tougher prospect for them with the Canadians just having too much for them.
