CANADA
- Canada produced a stunning 8-1 victory over previously unbeaten Germany to send a message out to the rest of the competition with the Canadians coming into form at the right time ahead of the quarter-finals.
- With the USA also defeating Germany, Canada were assured of a spot in the last eight of the competition and with the pressure now off, they can look to try and finish as high up the table as possible.
- Canada are the highest scorers in Group A with 28 points and that is despite playing a game less than everyone else other than their opponents here with Anthony Mantha the leading scorer in the competition with seven goals to his name.
DENMARK
- Denmark suffered a heavy loss to the USA as their slim chances of making the quarter-finals were ended with the Danes now just playing for pride in their remaining two matches of the tournament.
- Having posed problems for both Germany and Finland, Denmark couldn’t get going against the United States and were blown away in the first period with USA managing four goals on their way to a 7-1 victory.
- Denmark came into the tournament with a fairly experienced roster but now they have been eliminated, they may look to give some of the younger members of their squad some more time on the ice as they prepare for the future.

Canada are looming as a real threat in this World Championship and their huge win over Germany will not have gone unnoticed. They are starting to come into form at the right time and will look to use their two remaining round robin matches to continue building ahead of the quarter-finals. Denmark were heavily beaten in their last game and will want to avoid a repeat here but they could be in for a long night with Canada able to win big again.
