THE TEAM NEWS
BERMUDA
- Both of these teams have been eliminated from the tournament after losing their opening two games but Bermuda have competed well in both of their matches so far despite losing to both Haiti and Costa Rica by 2-1 scorelines.
- English-based duo Dante Leverock and Nahki Wells have been their only goalscorers so far and it is Wells especially who is their key outlet in attack and they will look to him for inspiration here.
- Their previous four meetings have been split with two wins apiece but Bermuda have the added motivation of trying to pick up their first ever victory in Gold Cup history against Nicaragua and they should name a strong side.
NICARAGUA
- Nicaragua will play out their final group game with nothing but pride to play here and their aim will be to try and score a goal after losing 4-0 to Costa Rica and 2-0 to Haiti without trouble the scoresheet in either game.
- Their poor first half performances have cost them in both of their matches so far as they have found themselves well behind at the half-time interval and they will have to start better to have any chance here.
- The manner of their defeats has been particularly concerning for head coach Henry Duarte who is expected to make wholesale changes for this match with some of their fringe players likely to get playing time.
THE PREDICTION
It has been a difficult Gold Cup campaign for both of these teams but it is Bermuda who will take the more positives after competing well in both of their matches so far. Their motivation is high to get a positive result from this final group game before they go home and assuming they do not make wholesale changes to their team, they could shade what could be a high-scoring game at the Red Bull Arena.
