THE TEAM NEWS
CHITTAGONG VIKINGS
Coach: Nurul Abedin
Captain: Mushfiqur Rahim
- Chittagong Vikings started the BPL in positive fashion by beating the Rangpur Riders but they lost their second match against Sylhet Sixers by five wickets so they will look to get back on track against bottom side Khulna Titans.
- Mohammad Shahzad, Cameron Delport, Sikandar Raza and Robbie Frylinck have been the four overseas players to start with Luke Ronchi on the sidelines and it may be that the New Zealand batsman-wicketkeeper replaces Shahzad at some point.
- They have relied heavily on Frylinck in both matches so far with both bat and ball, and they desperately need some of their local players to step and contribute more as they have struggled in the opening two matches.
KHULNA TITANS
Coach: Mahela Jayawardene
Captain: Mahmudullah
- It has been a torrid start for the Khulna Titans who have lost their opening three matches and remain the only team in this edition of the BPL to win a match so they are under some pressure coming into this game to get off the mark.
- Aside from openers Stirling and Junaid Siddique, the rest of their batting line-up has largely struggled so far and that has to improve if they are to have any chance of competing against most teams in the BPL.
- American bowler Ali Khan has been ruled out with a hamstring problem and Pakistani fast bowler Junaid Khan has been called up, and he could come straight into the side while Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman Brendan Taylor may come in to strengthen their batting too.
THE PREDICTION
These are two of weaker teams in the tournament and both will be desperate to get a win here but the impetus really is on the Titans. They are lacking in quality overall but they have some match winners like Stirling, Wiese and Junaid Siddique that can take them to victory. The Vikings have a win under their belts but are hardly convincing. Had it not been for Frylinck, they would be struggling badly and more players need to step up. There is not much to pick between the two sides but this has to be a game which the Titans will fancy winning their first game of the tournament.
