  • That run of results has seen Gurney move within touching distance of the play-off positions, and he is behind fourth-placed Gary Anderson only on leg difference.
  • His performance against Barney last week was statistically his best of the 2018 Premier League season. He averaged 102.8 with a very impressive checkout percentage of 63.6%.

THE PREDICTION

Both Cross and Gurney have recovered from inauspicious starts to the 2018 Premier League season and are two very much in-form players – between them they have suffered just one Premier League defeat in a combined total of 12 matches and that sole reversal was when Gurney won 7-5 against Cross in Belfast on night eight.

It’s hard to split them as they are both scoring very heavily and it would be no surprise at all to see a high number of 180’s scored during the contest. The stats suggest that Cross has the edge in terms of hitting doubles but Gurney has markedly improved that facet of his game in recent weeks and his confidence is rising all the time. This match has the potential to end in a draw with both players taking a point each.
