  • Castleford continued their good form as they comfortably defeated Salford Red Devils last week, running out 22-8 winners. That win was followed by the signing of Hull prop Liam Watts although he is unavailable this week as he serves a suspension.
  • Daryl Powell is forced into making a change to his 19-man squad with Oliver Holmes dropping out due to picking up a one-match ban. Gadwin Springer is his replacement and could make his first appearance of the season.
  • The Tigers have only conceded 28 penalties from their four games, an average of seven penalties per game. It will be important for Castleford to maintain this against Wigan with every penalty conceded potentially giving the high-scoring Warriors a chance to post points.

  • Wigan ended Wakefield’s unbeaten start to the season as the Warriors claimed an important 30-18 victory in a win that propelled Shaun Wane’s side to second in the table.
  • Wane has made two changes to his squad with Callum Field and Craig Mullen receiving call-ups whilst Liam Marshall and Gabe Hamlin make way.
  • Wigan are the second highest scorers in Super League this season, posting an impressive 27.2 points per game from their opening five games.

THE PREDICTION

Castleford host Wigan in the final game of Round 6 in Super League with both teams eager to make a statement of intent. Wigan can go level on points with league leaders St Helens with a win whilst a win for Castleford would see the Tigers go level on points with their opponents. It’s a big game for both sides but Wigan have enough to claim the two points with their attacking prowess potentially too much for Castleford to deal with.
