- Adelaide Strikers shocked Hobart Hurricanes to stay in the hunt for an unlikely play-off place and whilst it may prove in vain, the Strikers have at least given themselves a slight chance heading into their final two fixtures.
- Jake Weatherald was key to victory against the Hurricanes thanks to a score of 82 which was a welcome return to form for the batsman after a run of four consecutive single-figure scores.
- The Strikers have been given a boost with Peter Siddle allowed to re-join the side having been omitted from the Australian Test side with him set to come straight back into the side.
BRISBANE HEAT

- Brisbane Heat managed to avoid dropping to the foot of the BBL08 ladder when they claimed just their fourth win of the competition against fellow strugglers Perth Scorchers.
- Josh Lalor picked up a hat-trick in the six wicket win as he added another eye-catching display following his five-wicket haul against Sydney Sixers last week whilst Chris Lynn also played a huge role in the win as he hit his 16th BBL half century and his unbeaten 56 saw him become the BBL’s all-time top run scorer.
- Heat will be without Mujeeb Ur Rahman for their final two games after he was allowed to return home to Afghanistan whilst Brendan Doggett is also left out of the 13-man squad with paceman Mark Steketee and leg-spinner Mitch Swepson the new faces.
THE PREDICTION
Both of these teams are still alive in the competition but will need minor miracles to qualify for the finals. Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat have seemingly left themselves with too much to do to qualify at this late stage. The Strikers will come in to this one full of confidence after thrashing the league leaders Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets. With the return of Peter Siddle to add to their bowling attack, they should have too much and can potentially keep themselves alive in the competition.
