The prediction

The West Coast Eagles (18th) are coming off a competitive loss, going down to ladder-leaders Collingwood by 29 points (59-88). They impressively led the Magpies at half-time before being overrun. The loss was their 14th from 15 games.

The tough and versatile Eagle, Liam Baker, was his side's best player in the loss to Collingwood. He finished with a game-high 35 disposals and layed six tackles.

The GWS Giants (9th) enjoyed the bye in Round 16, giving them an ideal preparation for the trip to Perth. Their last match was a spectacular come-from-behind victory against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 15, where they overturned a 29-point deficit to win by 7 points (106-99). That thrilling win was their fourth in their last five games.

Tom Green was the catalyst for the Giants' incredible comeback against the Suns in Round 15. He was simply immense at the contest, racking up a game-high 16 clearances - the most by any player in a single game this season - and almost single-handedly willed his team back into the fight.

The memory of the last clash between these two sides will be fresh and painful for the Eagles. In Round 4 of this season, the Giants completely dismantled West Coast, running out 81-point winners (132-51) at ENGIE Stadium. GWS forward Jesse Hogan was the chief destroyer on that day, kicking a career-best-equalling 9 goals.

The context surrounding this match heavily favours the visitors. The Giants are not only the superior team on paper but also have the significant advantage of coming off a bye. While West Coast's effort against Collingwood was commendable, it is difficult to see them containing a GWS side that is both in form and desperate for a win to stay in the finals race.

West Coast vs GWS Giants tip: GWS Giants to win by 25+ points & Jesse Hogan to kick 3+ goals
