Under the management of Richard Iwai, the Vanuatu national side are currently ranked 161st in the world, according to FIFA. Nicknamed ‘The Men in Black and Gold’ head into this one on the back of a three-match winless run of form sine they hammered a poor Samoa side in OFC qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The two sides shared a 1-1 draw in December 2024 in a friendly, with Fiji the hosts for that one. Since then, Fiji were knocked out of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the semi-final stage in OFC qualification due to a 7-0 hammering at the hands of New Zealand in Wellington.
Fiji were one of the better sides about a year or so ago in OFC qualifying and they would have to be viewed as the team least likely to lose against Vanuatu.
