Derby Valenciano kicks off the return of La Liga this weekend with Carlos Corberan’s Valencia, under pressure, take on an entertaining Levante side at Mestalla.

Valencia preview: Under pressure Los Che

Following the appointment of Carlos Corberan on Christmas Eve in 2024, Valencia were much-improved last season but Los Che have been woeful at the start of this season and the pressure is growing on the former West Bromwich Albion boss.

The Valencians come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Real Betis in their most recent outing at Mestalla a couple of weeks ago, extending their winless run of form to seven matches in La Liga.

Levante preview: Entertaining Levante

Levante gained automatic promotion to the top-flight last season and they have been very entertaining to watch with their 12 La Liga games having consisted of 39 goals, albeit their performances haven’t got the results that they deserve.

Levante went into the November international break on the back of collecting just one point from their last four matches, having suffered a 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano a couple of weeks ago.

Valencia team news: A few injuries

Valencia are dealing with a few injuries but none are fresh. Mouctar Diakhaby remains sidelined alongside Filip Ugrinic and Largie Ramazani, whilst Dimitri Foulquier is a doubt.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Julen Agirrezabala; Correia, Carlos Tarrega, Copete, Jose Luis Gaya; Diego Lopez, Javi Guerra, Pepelu, Danjuma; Almeida, Beltran

Unavailable: Diakhaby (Injured), Ugrinic (Injured), Ramazani (Injured)

Questionable: Foulquier (Injured)

Levante team news: Fully fit

Levante head into derby day with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues and so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one if they so choose.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Ryan; Toljan, Dela, Matias Moreno, Manu Sanchez; Carlos Alvarez, Unai Elgezabal, Jon Olasagasti; Eyong, Brugui

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Valencia vs Levante prediction

Carlos Corberan is coming under immense scrutiny and pressure from the local media, almost to the point where there appears to be a campaign for him to depart his role. That is immensely surprising given how well he started at Mestalla. Levante head across the city knowing they can score goals against anyone, having led 2-0 against Barcelona in August, for example. Valencia simply have to win, though, given their form, and that should produce a reasonably chaotic encounter for the neutral.

Valencia vs Levante tip: Both teams to score
