Thiago Monteiro vs Nicolai Budkov Kjaer prediction
Thiago Monteiro won both of his qualifying matches to compete in the main draw. His recent form has been very poor, as he lost in the first-round of the French Open, the first stage of Wimbledon qualifying and round one of both tournaments in Modena and Braunschweig on the Challenger Tour. His best form of the season was in March, as he made two finals in Santiago and Asuncion.
Nicolai Budkov Kjaer also qualified for the tournament. The Norwegian is just 18-years-old but he does have a title to this name after winning a Challenger in Glasgow five months ago. His record on clay has been less impressive and he currently holds a 7-8 win-loss record on the surface this season, but he is improving and did make a quarter-final appearance in Prague a month ago.
Monteiro is not in the best of form, but he should be defeating his inexperienced opponent comfortably and making it through to the next round.
