THE PREDICTION
21-year-old Flavio Cobolli will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 70th after coming through qualifying as a lucky loser to beat Taro Daniel on Tuesday, coming back from a set down to scrape through. The Italian may feel he is playing with house money already this week in Delray Beach but recent wins over Nicolas Jarry at the Australian Open and Gael Monfils in Montpellier are proof of his ability on a hardcourt and he should be better for an early scare. Zachary Svajda, also 21, will also set a new career-high of around 138th after an excellent upset over Max Purcell on Tuesday. The American qualified well over the weekend to bring some momentum into this first encounter with Cobolli and he will be backed to the hilt as the underdog aiming to reach a tour-level quarter-final for the first time. Three sets seem likelier than two here so back in-form Cobolli to earn at least a set on his second wind momentum to leave the victor up to chance.
