World number 68 Yulia Putintseva should not be underestimated this week in Miami after upsetting 13th seed Liudmila Samsonova in three sets, building on her surprise run to the round of 16 at Indian Wells last time out. The 29-year-old is capable of much better tennis than her current ranking suggests but she is certainly one of the streakier and unpredictable performers on the WTA tour. It would not be a surprise to see world number 79 Greet Minnen grab the upset here as a hard-working scrapper playing with house money this week as a lucky loser from qualifying. The 26-year-old beat Lesia Tsurenko in straight sets on Thursday after enjoying a double-walkover to the second round and that sort of second-wind momentum has proven to be a powerful force. Take in-form Putintseva to earn at least a set as the likelier, on ability, to edge through here but leave this out of an accumulator.
