World number 64 Yibing Wu burst onto the scene at the Dallas Open in February, upsetting top seed Taylor Fritz and Denis Shapovalov en-route to a fabulous three-set victory over John Isner. The 23-year-old beat Jaume Munar in three sets for a solid opener at Indian Wells before a straight-sets defeat to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina but that level should be enough to see him through this first meeting with a currently anomalous Kyle Edmund. World number 544 Edmund has so far lost all three of his matches this season in straight sets as he works hard to regain confidence in his game after a serious knee complaint almost ended his career and it remains to be seen how far the Brit can go as a former top 20 player with some serious firepower. It is probably best to leave Edmund’s matches out of accumulators for the foreseeable given his wide margin for potential injury or bursting back into form but otherwise back Yibing Wu to win in straight sets.
